Bacon Onion Jam Flat Bread  

Bacon Onion Jam

Yields 1 qt. Prep Time – 15 min Cook Time – 95 min Ingredients
  • 1 # Bacon (rough chop)
  • 3 each Red Onions (medium sliced thin)
  • 1 shot Expresso
  • ½ tsp. Red Pepper Flake
  • ¼ cup Maple Syrup
  • ¼ cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ¼ tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Thyme (fresh chopped)
  • Salt (to taste)
Instructions
  1. Put all of the bacon into hotel pan.
  2. Cook bacon in oven at 350°F for 20-30 min. Bacon should look crispy on the edges but not burnt.
  3. Fold the onions into the bacon in the pan and cook for another 5-10 min. Onions should be soft and fragrant.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Make sure the mix is spread out flat.
  5. Cook for another 35-45 min or until the liquid is thick and syrupy.
  6. Spread the jam onto a lined sheet tray and chill in a refrigerator or blast chiller.
  7. Once cooled down the jam can be canned or vacuum sealed for later use.
